Created by Edmond McGrath (RIP) in the 1970s, these Irish prints were rediscovered in 2020 after 40 years in safe storage. Beautifully arranged in this Irish coat of arms parchment is an artistic celebration of the Aherne Irish surname. The Aherne family crest is illustrated at the center and surrounded by famous Celtic symbols of Ireland. These illustrations are a wonderful dedication to Irish last names.

Imagine having this beautiful story of your name hanging on your living room wall for all to study over a glass of wine, or to take a glimpse at it when having your Barry's tea on the couch. There is so much to take in. This parchment is an heirloom for many generations yet to come. It's a wonderful reminder of your Irish heritage.

On your living room wall, you will always be reminded of your Irish origins and it will be a show stopper for visiting friends and family. Presenting a family coat of arms gift is a truly special gift for the home for someone special who has that unique Irish connection.

On this parchment, the Killarney lakes take center stage above the heraldic shield whilst many Irish Celtic symbols and famous monuments surround it.

Illustrated in this parchment are:

Read the intriguing transcription of the text illustrated on the Quigley family history parchment:

In Irish the name is O Coiligh, descendant of Coigleach. Since this name has connotations of untidiness perhaps the first holder of it was careless of his appearance. It is rarely found in the form O’Quigley now- it remained in use until 1800. For some people it has become Twigley, Kegley or Cogley. The Quigleys belonged to the people of the Ui Fiachra and were originally based in the Barony of Carra in co.Mayo. By the end of the 16th century they had dispersed and the name is now widespread but perhaps a majority of those bear it have fairly recent connections with the Derry-Donegal-Sligo area. This is where the Quigleys were concentrated in the 17th century with other groups in counties Galway and Louth.  The 19th century was the greatest period of movement and emigration as thousands of Irishmen and women left behind the poverty and unemployment of Ireland to look for better things in the New World. Among them were Martha Quigley and Robert Quigley. Martha is recorded as having arrived in Philadelphia on 31st August, 1811. Her voyage from Derry had taken 63 days aboard the ship ‘Fame,’ captained by William Pollock. Robert Quigley embarked from Greenock in Scotland on 6th December, 1852 aboard the ‘Marchionness of Clydesdale.’ An example of the cost would be that for a family of eight traveling steerage in 1855 for a total cost of about £24. Apart from food and water the passengers had to provide any comforts they required in the way of utensils and bedding. The voyage was a long one- between fifty and eighty days depending on the weather. In the next century Edward Quigley, Bishop of Buffalo was a prominent figure in the U.S.A.
