McKeown Family Crest

Created by Edmond McGrath (RIP) in the 1970s, these Irish prints were rediscovered in 2020 after 40 years in safe storage. Beautifully arranged in this Irish coat of arms parchment is an artistic celebration of the Mckeown Irish surname. The McKeown family crest is illustrated at the center and surrounded by famous Celtic symbols of Ireland. These illustrations are a wonderful dedication to Irish last names.

There is so much to take in. This parchment is an heirloom for many generations yet to come. It's a wonderful reminder of your Irish heritage.

On your living room wall, you will always be reminded of your Irish origins and it will be a show stopper for visiting friends and family. Presenting a family coat of arms gift is a truly special gift for the home for someone special who has that unique Irish connection.

The McKeown Coat Of Arms Story

Read the intriguing transcription of the text illustrated on the Mckeown family history parchment:

Present-day holders of this name, MacEochaidh in Irish, are descended from one of the three quite distinct septs or clans of McKeogh. The greatest concentration of them today is in Leinster where the most historically important group was to be found. As often happened, there was a certain amount of movement before they settled in County Wexford, they are believed to have originally come from North Kildare to County Wicklow in early medieval times. They came with the powerful O'Byrne family with whom they held the office of a hereditary bard. This tradition was maintained, notably by Maoimuire McKeogh, recorded by the four masters as Professor of Poetry In Leinster in 1534. There are a number of other poets of the same name. After Leinster, the name is mainly found in the area around Limerick although the place name Ballymackeogh occurs In County Tipperary. The other sept were one of one Ui Maine group and their homeland lay in county Roscommon. The ancestor after whom they were named was Eochaidh O'Kelly and, as Lords of Magh Finn, their territory of Moyfinn in the barony of Achlone, was known as McReogh’s country for a very long time. The place-name Keoghville is one indication of their influence. Two distinguished representatives of the name in the eighteenth century were both John Keoghs: one a mathematician and the other a botanist and zoologist. Among those of Irish descent in America was Captain Miles Walter Keogh (1840-1876) who died at the Battle of Little Bighor, leaving his horse as the sole survivor on the army's side.  Over the centuries the name has undergone changes, prominent among the many variations are McKeogh, Keogh, McKeown and Kehoe.

Firstly communication has been horrendous. Totally unprofessional. Secondly I ordered my shield like 5 months in advance for a 40th birthday and it comes with the totally wrong logo for one of the families. It isn’t the family shield. With only about 5 weeks left and with no response to my email looks like the birthday surprise has been ruined. I’m out of luck getting it elsewhere now due to the time restrictions. There was no communication asking if the logos were the correct ones for the families. No reply to my email to fix the mistake. Totally upset and disappointed in the service especially on the communication front.

A beautiful plaque commemorating the joining of our two families

Aidan and his team did a beautiful job creating a dual coat of arms wall plaque and included our anniversary. The workmanship is outstanding and customer service is excellent. A great organization to work with. Thank you.

Just What I Was Hoping For

The team at Gifts of Ireland did an outstanding job creating my husband's family crest shield based upon the original design. It's exactly what I was hoping for. Their team is excellent to work with and very timely in their correspondence. The family history sheet is a bonus and nice to have. Thank you!
