Carefully handcrafted in sterling silver, this pendant recreates the front and back of the historic St. Patrick and St. Columba Cross in Kells. The original stone cross is decorated with panels depicting scenes from both the Old and New Testaments, giving this replica a direct connection to Ireland’s early Christian heritage.

History of the St. Patrick & St. Columba Cross of Kells
St. Columba, also known as St. Columcille, founded a monastic settlement on the island of Iona off the coast of Scotland in 561 AD. Following repeated Viking raids, the surviving monks moved to Kells in County Meath in 806 AD.
Kells subsequently became an important monastic centre and is home to an outstanding collection of surviving Irish High Crosses. Among them is the Cross of St. Patrick and St. Columba.
Like many ancient Irish stone crosses, the original has been weathered by centuries of exposure. Despite this, much of its remarkable design and carved imagery can still be recognised.
The panels of the cross depict scenes drawn from the Old and New Testaments, reflecting the important role Ireland’s High Crosses played in early Christian religious art and storytelling.
