Malinmore Court Tomb; A Grand Trip Through Prehistoric Ireland

Malinmore Court Tomb; A Grand Trip Through Prehistoric Ireland

Let me tell you about my trip to The Malinmore court tomb in Glencolmcille, Donegal,

Come on a walk with me for 60 seconds:

Picture this: you're wandering through the wild beauty of Glencolmcille, a little slice of heaven tucked away in County Donegal. The rugged landscape, with its lush green fields and dramatic cliffs, is enough to take your breath away. And then you come across Prehistoric Ireland.

Now, Malinmore court tomb is a real hidden gem. It's one of them ancient burial sites that'll transport you back in time. Dating back to around 3500 BC, can you even imagine the stories these stones could tell if they could talk? Sure, they've seen it all – from the fierce battles of old to the tender moments of ancient families saying their farewells.

As you approach the tomb, you can't help but feel a sense of reverence. The monument stands tall and proud, a testament to the craftsmanship of our ancestors. It's made up of a long passage and a circular chamber, with massive stones balancing atop each other in a remarkable feat of engineering.

Now, don't be surprised if you find a few sheep keeping you company on your way to the tomb. They're quite the characters and seem to have made this place their own. Maybe they're paying their respects to their long-gone ancestors too, who knows?

As you step inside the tomb, you might notice the play of light and shadows creating a mystical atmosphere. And if you're the imaginative sort, you can almost hear the whispers of the past echoing in the stone walls.

It's a spot that sparks the historian in anyone, and it's easy to get lost in contemplation of the people who once walked this land, which we now know as Wee Donegal.

Maybe they were farmers, hunters, or even shamans practicin' ancient rituals – the possibilities are endless, and that's the charm of places like these.

So, as you wander through the history of Malinmore court tomb, take a moment to soak it all in. Breathe in the fresh Atlantic air, let the wind play with your hair, and feel the embrace of the past. It's a journey worth taking. Sláinte 🇮🇪👍☘️
